In 2010, we are undertaking our biggest tree planting campaign yet.  We are preparing the ground to plant close to 3 hectares (7.5 acres) of trees.  That´s over 2000 trees, twice as much as in previous years!  This year´s focus and Heritage Tree Species include brazil nut (Bertholletia excelsa), sangre de grado (Croton lechleri), quillobordon (Aspidosperma sp.), and several others.

Our 2010 tree planting campaigns were a big success!  Our work planting trees with Baltimori´s farmers led to the planting of 1500 trees (click here for more...), and our own Living Seed Bank saw the addition of over 1000 trees, bringing the total number of tree species planted to over 180 (more...).  We thank the generosity of our donors for supporting this important work!

We are pleased to announce that we are now more than half way to our goal of raising $25,000 for the purchase of 100 more acres (40 hectares) in the community of Baltimori in the exquisite rainforests of Tambopata.  Acquiring this adjacent land would mean more than doubling the size of our existing center.  20 of the 100 acres have been previously farm, leaving room for our reforestation efforts.  The other 80 acres are pristine rainforest, Tambopata´s jungles being among the world´s most biodiverse.  We continue to seek a dozen generous donors to contribute $1,000 to this...

Our joint efforts with Ibanezackin and the World Ayni Association have generated $7,400 dollars for direct aid to disaster victims in the Urubamba area of Cusco, Peru.  More than $5,000 of this total was donated through Camino Verde.  Thank you for your support!  For more information, please visit World Ayni at www.worldayni.org .
